Wind Speed

temperature

Wind is defined as the movement of air in any direction. The speed of wind varies from calm to the very high speeds of hurricanes. Wind is created when air moves from areas of high pressure toward areas where the air pressure is low. Seasonal temperature changes and the Earth’s rotation also affect wind speed and direction.

Temperature differences between neighboring regions, or between the ocean and nearby land areas, can affect the flow of air.

At first glance, there is not an statistical relationship between latitude and wind speed, but the maximal speeds registered are available in latitudes with lower temperatures, suggesting the posibility of less wind speed where temperature is warmer: Near from Latitude cero.
